Retirement
That's what I'm calling this little piece, 5 x 5 canvas with collage and acrylic paint. It (retirement) feels like that's what I've been doing these last few weeks. I think I've finally pulled out of the doldrums and put some of the duties behind me that were pressing. Now, to paint!
What is it about water fowl in lawn chairs that so appeals to me?
Also, I've done more on the West African Crane from two posts ago. I'm trying to decide whether I will paint the background or leave it "collage-out."
In other news, I am the lucky winner of a wax collage by the wonderfully creative artist, Saundra Lane Galloway! Check out her blog. She is a prolific painter and mixed media artist and such a supportive member of the blogging community. Thanks, Saundra!

Love it ,you have some cool stuff here, keep it up.
Another couple of wonderful pieces Elizabeth! I love the shadow and depth to the crane. She (?) really pulls away from the background. :)
Really enjoy reading about your process and seeing the amazing results! Your studio is a wonderful place for color and surprises! Thank you.

Glad you're back. And wow! I specially love the crane.
Thanks for your kind comments guys! My goal today is to start another birdie on a bigger canvas. I guess we'll all have to check back tomorrow to see whether I make it!
I can always count on you to crack me up. Love that duck! Of course, I love both...the texture on the crane is wonderful, but that little duck speaks to me.
your work just makes me feel good! thanks!
This is a really nice piece. You have done a great job on it.
this is great!
I'm really enjoying these -= so playful, so well done. I I REally admire your work.....
Thanks so much, guys, for your supportive words for this struggling artist!
I have to tell you, that while I was painting the West African crane (I think that is its name), I happened upon the Letterman show on which Jack Hanna was the guest. Guess who the animal feature was! Yes, indeedy, the WA crane was coaxed to fly over the heads of the audience and land on Dave's desk where it proceeded to peck the dickens out of him, going after some nuts. It was great, and so interesting to see one in flight, awkward and lovely, all at once!
Hi Elizabeth,
These birds are amazing. I seem to want my birds on coffee cups. Of course in real life that would be far from fun.
Super work.
Barbara
Funny, I don't remember posing for this but those damn sure are my legs.
Love the duck!
You made me laugh! Thanks for commenting, Barbara and "On Painting"!
