This will probably be the last of the pictures of the panel, even though it is still not finished. I need to work on the cupcake and tweak details, highlights, shadows, etc.

Hi, Kathy: That's what I love about the collage underpainting--it gives interest and texture at the same time and makes you want to look harder at it. You see different things each time you look, too.

The wax i use on my paintings is Dorland's. It is most often used with oil paint as a medium i believe. I attach the watercolor to a stiff support like foam core using acrylic matt medium. Once dry, simply apply the wax using cheesecloth in circular motions. It does not disturb the painted surface at all. Quite a nice way to finish them off and then you can frame without glass.

I had no idea this was so large! Fantastic! Now this fellow would always bring a smile and warm, fuzzy feeling (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) every time you saw it! I imagine people walking by and smiling and moving on with that smile still on their lips :)
