Soft Sky, oil painting, 9 x 9, by Mary Maxam
Yesterday, I got an email from wonderful artist, Mary Maxam. She drew my name from all of her followers to win the lovely painting above! It reminds me of my home state of Texas with big sky and long, flat vistas. What really appeals to me about her work is that it is impressionistic and lush with vibrant, pure color. Check out this painting from her recent work.

Good question. It looks like a combination of brush work and palette knife. Mary didn't say in her email.

Hi Elizabeth and friends. Thanks so much for your generous comments and I am so pleased to be introduced to your work as well:) To answer your question, this was done using brush, with the exception of (you guessed it) the broad thick vertical right at the last.
