Tangerine Seas, working title, collage/acrylic, 36 x 18
by Elizabeth W. Seaver
This painting would be the equivalent of an archaeological gold mine. Excavate, and you'd find layers and layers of paintings underneath, some of which caused me to despair of ever growing up one day to be a painter.
I should just give this up and go dig ditches instead, said I to myself. Anyone who knows me is now rofl, right? Hard work? Sweat? I don't think so.
But, I am satisfied with the change and offer it up to you as my jazzier version of this image.

You've taken it to the next level! I like it a lot better.
Is there significance in the elements you use for your collages? I always look to see what's "in there", but its hard to read all the text.
I'm glad you stuck with painting, although I figure you would have had some pretty creative ditches out there...

Love it, love it, love it!! :)
Another lovely piece. Love the plain dark background vs. the movement and pattern of the waves and umbrella.
Hi, Don. It's funny you should ask. I was just reviewing my choices and thinking of better ones. But I guess it will just have to go in another painting. This one has black and white paper from a music magazine and the old, yellowed paper is from a 100 year old newspaper/catalog. They were mainly chosen for their color, I'm afraid.
Yes, I don't know how long I'd have held my job if they wanted me to dig within the lines. I guess I'd better stay where I am!
Thanks, Anna. You're my cheerleader!
I usually have to remind myself that, although I like texture and movement, most people like a place for their eyes to rest. Thanks for stopping by, Maggie!
Hi, Elizabeth!!! Very glad to meet you and your wonderful work. I ask, another reciclables materials to make collages?
Oh, I adore your profile's photo!!!! Un abrazo!!!! Alice
Très joli travail, belles recherches...
Very Nice, Elizabeth. I like the dark background and the shape of the umbrella.
I like what you've done with the colors. And we all know a good painting doesn't come easy! They usually have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the world.
Very nice Elisabeth! I really like the way you did the folds of the umbrella. Dynamic.
OH Elizabeth...you just work wonders with these umbrellas...I'm constantly wanting to be UNDER one of them!! You go girl!! And...I liked the other version too...calm and warm!!
This is great! I love the layers, textures, and design. There's so much to study!
Elizabeth - all your hard work paid off! This is so gorgeous - love the images and print on the umbrella. I keep going back to look again because it's so interesting!
so if they xrayed this they would find some other images beneath? I really enjoy what you came up with (to land on)--awfully nice! These paintings always make me want to go to the beach.
Thank you for visiting my blog! Your work is wonderful - I've checked it out quite a few times.

very nice Elizabeth. You have done a great job with this piece.
Thanks for your last post on my art blog
Hi, Elizabeth!!! I'm so glad you crossed "my mirror"! Thank you!!! Yesterday I could not sign up as your fan (electric power problems) Finally, today I did. I'm so happy 'bout that!!! Hughs, Alice.
Substantial whimsicality...I like it!
Hey, I admire perseverence. There's no such thing as bad novel, just an underworked novel. Maybe paintings are the same? This is looking grande so far, the different coloured newspapers add just the right touch.
For me, I am so greedy that if a painting doesn't work immediatement then it goes over on the reject pile (with the other hundred or so) the pile is pretty big right now :)
Love this Elizabeth, quite jazzy indeed! Was wondering if you ever saw the comment I left for you quite a few weeks ago about the Renee award?
Hope you're doing well - I haven't been able to visit in awhile, but am trying to get back in the swing.
