Closer to Done

Public Art Panel, Beautify the 'Burg, Fredericksburg, Va
I Should Have Turned Left at Albuquerque, collage/acrylic
40 x 56

This will probably be the last of the pictures of the panel, even though it is still not finished.  I need to work on the cupcake and tweak details, highlights, shadows, etc.

Your comments about the panel and my show have really kept me going.   Thanks to all of you who stopped by.

I want to extend a warm welcome to my new followers.  Hang on, "It's going to be a bumpy ride!"

This is wonderful! It's so intriguing and makes me smile. I really like the textures you've incorporated.

Hi, Kathy: That's what I love about the collage underpainting--it gives interest and texture at the same time and makes you want to look harder at it. You see different things each time you look, too.

Did I understand correctly: Is that for downtown Fredericksburg!? I went to undergrad school at University of Mary Washington, when it was just a college. This is great! Love it!

I'm glad you like the cherry on top!

Hi, Brush with Color: You should come back to visit. Depending on how long ago it was, I don't think you'd recognize it. We've lived there 10 years and the changes are amazing.

Mary Wash is a great place.

Wow! This is very cool! I love so much the whimsy and the title is fabulous! Very, very creative Elizabeth.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog as well and for your encouraging words.
The wax i use on my paintings is Dorland's. It is most often used with oil paint as a medium i believe. I attach the watercolor to a stiff support like foam core using acrylic matt medium. Once dry, simply apply the wax using cheesecloth in circular motions. It does not disturb the painted surface at all. Quite a nice way to finish them off and then you can frame without glass.
Blessings to you! Ross

This is just outrageously cool. I can't think of any other way to describe it! LOVE seeing the shot of you working on it as well. I wish I could see it in person!

Hi, Ross. I never would have thought to use an oil medium over watercolor. Very innovative. Thanks for stopping by and answering my question!

I had no idea this was so large! Fantastic! Now this fellow would always bring a smile and warm, fuzzy feeling (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) every time you saw it! I imagine people walking by and smiling and moving on with that smile still on their lips :)
